Craving something comforting, packed with flavour, and absolutely delicious in Bristol? Wangs Noodle Bar in Montpelier is your next go-to for a homestyle, made-with-love meal.
This newly-opened neighbourhood restaurant has quickly become a hotspot for anyone in the know, offering up some of the tastiest, most authentic Asian dishes in the city. With their laid-back vibe and affordable prices, it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again – whether you’re grabbing a quick bite on your lunch break or meeting up with friends for a casual dinner.

Walking into Wangs, you’ll notice it’s a no frills spot – just good food and a warm atmosphere, with a cool contemporary vibe. The décor is simple but welcoming: wooden tables, bright warm lights, and industrial, rustic walls. The space isn’t huge, but that only adds to its charm. It’s cosy and buzzing, with the open kitchen providing a bit of theatre as you watch the chefs whip up steaming bowls of noodles or handmade dumplings in a flash.
Drop in for a quick solo meal or linger for a while with a group, chatting and sharing plates without feeling rushed. The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready with recommendations if you’re not sure what to order. Wangs insists on creating a really easygoing vibe that will make you feel right at home.

The star of the show is of course the food. If you love noodles, Wangs is a little slice of heaven. Their Dan Dan noodle dish is probably the one that gets talked about the most – think spicy chengdu sesame sauce, with fresh wheat noodles, spiced tofu, and choi sum, for a vegan take on the classic Sichuan dish. And it is very worth the hype.
Our other favourites include the Taiwanese beef noodles with braised beef shin, pickled woodear mushrooms, and sticky rice in a rich bone broth, the night market fried chicken with doubanjiang mayonnaise, the Hong Kong chilli wontons, and the Cantonese sticky chicken rice with poached chicken thigh, crispy chicken skin, ginger cucumber, and a soy-cured egg yolk.

Wangs authenticity really sets them apart from the rest – if you’re looking for a true neighbourhood Chinese experience, trust in the fact that Wangs takes no shortcuts when it comes to their food. You can tell they take pride in making sure everything is fresh and full of flavour, from the noodles to the sauces. Combined with only using quality local ingredients, it’s a win-win.

The whole experience at Wangs is what keeps diners coming back. It’s not just about the food (though it is amazing), but also the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re hanging out at your favourite location spot. In a city full of food options, Wangs manages to stand out by keeping it real – no fuss, just genuinely great food.
